‘What to you think of it so far???’
As Jimmy Greaves regularly said “football’s a funny old game” and this season, the Cavaliers have realised that cricket is as well. Tant’s finally tied the knot and has even started scoring runs.
The Judge played his last game for the Cavs. SNR has scored runs somewhere other than toward 3rd man and we have seen captaincy bring out the best in Jay Wise.
Personally, I am yet to play in a Cav’s winning side this season and I’m not proud to admit it but I’m at a sporting low point in my life.
To be honest, it’s not that we have become sh*t!!! More that we keep missing out on games that could have turned either way.
Yes, it has been a strange season compared to recent seasons and we all know what situations have lead to a lack of victories, but I’m not going to ponder what might have been.
What’s done is done and we must concentrate on the positives achieved so far in the Cavaliers history and strive to attain improvement in our immediate future.
I am a great believer in positive thinking. If we believe we are going to under perform, then subconsciously we will and then feel we have succeeded in our objective! F*ck that. BCR said to me once “tell yourself you are better than the opposition attack and realise that you can win the match”. I thought he had just swallowed a sports psychology text book! But for me these words worked and there is no reason why this positive mental state can not work for the entire Cavaliers team.
So, what will happen during the last three games of the season? A victory against Walton on Thames at the Bernabeu of cricket. Beat Redders at both cricket and the crisp eating contest and recover from the beers to beat Mary Magdalene. Are these predictions pie in the sky? I think definitely not. The Cavs have the armoury to take on the best of them and win and I truly believe we can and will.
So, is the answer to the title rubbish? Well that wouldn’t be very positive at all - would it?
I love you all.
Delia
