Vino with
Barry Ellis
Hi,
and welcome to my column on my great passion......wine.
This
month I'm reviewing a particular favourite of mine, Vin
de Muckie. From grapes grown in the vast vineyards of Stroud
Green, this wine has been produced by Chateau de Porchetta
for well over 3 years now.
This
full-bodied wine comes in either white or red and is normally
served in authentic litre carafes and is a great compliment
to any Italian food, particularly pizza. Due to the unique
growing conditions in the area you really get the strong
vinegar taste mingled with grit and sour apples.
I
started with the red, an oaked flavour with a hint of rhubarb,
best drunk by the glass in one hit...don't let it hit the
sides. It really washes down a pepperoni pizza, garlic bread
and half a dozen Marlboro Lights.
However,
my favourite tipple is the white variety. This fruity little
number brings back memories of summer meadows in West Common,
beaches in Ibiza and clubs in Brixton, with an after-taste
of Stella Artois. Now, this wine really must be drunk by
the carafe. Don't bother with a glass as to really enjoy
this wine to its full potential you really need to put an
entire litre back....in one go. Only when you have done
this do you feel the true strength of Vin de Muckie and
your body gets all the benefits. If you make sure you are
near a toilet and have a taxi booked, you are sure to enjoy
this quality wine to the full.
