St Albans Cricket Club - Away 05/07/09 Scorecard

Cavs vs St Albans CC

See what happened when we played St Albans over 10 years ago today

Oh, and look what's happening in New Zealand

From Captain S Foster Snr...

A great effort by the Cavs yesterday against St Albans saw us come just short of what would have been an excellent win.

At Clarence Park St Albans posted a competitive but achievable 217 for 6 on a runway of a wicket. Some tidy bowling by Kev Mox, Tail end and Firms kept the scoring down on a scorching hot afternoon and very fast outfield. A good effort with not much fineage from Elbo (run out chances aside).

The chase was on and at 20 for 2 we saw big John Greggs wander out to the crease. No sooner had Ellis and Todd disappeared to the Crown to lick their wounds, Johnny Greggs, 15 balls later was holding his bat aloft acknowledging his maiden Cavs 50. An awesome display of clean hitting against some formidable opening bowling. Greggsy went on to make 74 and set up the platform for the win. Snr and OA's debutant Gian nudged the total on to 170 until both went in 3 balls. Tanty came in and smashed one of his trade mark shots over the pavillion first ball, unfortunatley it was only the cavs looking over the pavillion as thats where the ball should have gone had he not missed it and hit his middle stump! Costly golden duck.

And so with 202 on the board with one over and one Cavs wicket left up stepped the Firmeman. A couple of scrambled 2's and the match was on again. Firmin then middled one which was soaring to the rope only to be pouched by St Albans best fielder and the Cavs were all out for 208.

So on we go. Its Bamville away this sunday can you all let me know by return of email your availability. This could be the last Cavs match for a while so your chance to get some cricket in.

Regards
Snr

nb - Greggs, Todd can you pass this on to Besty, the now second best player in your house!
