An excellent day for the Cavs yesterday with victory against
the Goodwill Wanderers up at Woollams. The Cavs dominated
from the off and after i elected to bat there was never
any doubt of the result. An excellent knock of 60 from Brindo
nitted the innings together and was ably supported along
the way by Lloydy, Mark Nicholls and Tanty. The big fella
was never really in any danger and some glorious leg side
stroke play saw him reach his half century with very little
effort (and backlift KP!!). The platform was then set for
Tant who had 6 overs to ouvert!. That he duly did and for
once it came off. Tant finishing on 54 not out, reaching
his fifty with a steepling
6 after being goaded on by Cavs on the boundary.
After a reckless tea of too much choccy and apple cake
the Cavs you would have thought may be somewhat sluggish
in the field. However the oppo hadnt factored in on the
devon express, Matt Penhooligan. A devestating display of
quick, aggressive, snorting and bustling 8 overs saw him
return a measily 1 wicket for 12 runs. Bowling to 6 slips
for the majority of his spell the oppo skipper asked if
he could drugs test Matt after the game. At that point we
hastily ushered him away just in case any sniffer dogs were
lurking.
Some tidy bowling saw the Cavs return 5 wickets and with
the GW's nowhere near our target they blocked out their
40 overs reaching 150-5.
What was also pleasing to me was the support from the sideline.
Nige, Lance, Jimmy Hat, Wags, Nippers and Besty were all
in attendance.
Man of the match was a close call between Brindo and Matt
P but i have to give the edge to Brindo who was majestic
at the crease and set up the cavs victory.
