Cavs vs Boxmoor CC

Cavaliers vs Boxmoor Sun 30th Sept 2009

Cracking win for the Cavs last sunday seeing off a competitive Boxmoor side.

The day started with niggle at the toss. With only 6 Cavs in attendance at 1.45pm i asked their skipper wether we could bat first whilst waiting for the other cavs to show up (BCR on the motorway and Firms up at Woolams (the latter choosing the wrong location after being delivered the promise of something special by his young lady friend 15mins before the off!!!!)).

Down the came the coin the wrong side of my call and the home skipper duly decided to bat himself! Cnut! Therefore with 6 cavs and 2 Boxmoor colts we clobbered from the nets we set off. No sooner had the opening bowlers of Hat and LBC bowled 7 overs between them we had them 40 for 6 with LBC finally finsihig with figures of 6-2-12-4. I decided to take LBC and Hat off as we would have bowled them out for 75. Anyway we threw up a few overs of spin and eased them up to a respectable 140 all out. The niggle at tea was evident as the opps skipper asked me not to bowl his demon indian colt who spins the ball about 6 feet with a very unorthadox action. I duly gave him an over in which he removed his pakistani nemises with a leggy which decived all of us.

Tea was rather uniteresting with ham and cheese baps and a few lemon tarts. No home made cake JB!

Elbo opened up with one of the Boxmoor colts and was very watchful early on. The win however was never in doubt and Ellis batted through 35 overs for a chanceless 40. Bainsey finding his form now with his 4th straight 50 was caught for 51. Greggsy hit a 2 ball 8 in true fashion and it was left for me and Hat to see it home.

MOM - LBC for his unplayable spell albeit he did take out the Boxmoor 11 year old with an Aussie rules slide tackle whilst dropping a catch!

Not sure if Frase has another fixture planned but i get the feeling thats the season done.

Thoughts now turn to the End of season do. After much deliberation the team who played sunday decided that rather than going for a meal why not have a good old fashioned '6 bells at 6' beer crawl in St Albans. Then ruby if anyone fancies it. Im sure we will get some dates out soon but middle / end of October has been mooted.
