The
Harpenden Cavaliers cricket club was founded in the spring
of 1999. Comprising a core of former Roundwood Park School
pupils, the Cavaliers' raison d'etre is to provide a relaxed
yet competitive cricketing environment for guys that love
the game but can't, to be perfectly honest, be bothered
to play week in week out for a village side.
A nomadic side, the Cavaliers are a side full of the full
spectrum of players, including quality strokeplayers, ferocious
pacemen, tweaky spinners, velcro-mittened keepers and various
other absurd descriptions. With such an array of talent
on board, it was little surprise that the great David Ivon
Gower agreed to be our Honorary President.
